"Dead Pirate Roberts"

This work is inspired by Ross Ulbricht, aka Dead Pirate Roberts, the former owner of the infamous dark web marketplace, The Silk Road. Although Ulbricht does not have the best track record from a moral standpoint, I found his story extremely compelling. He believed in a world that could not be governed—a world beyond imposed control. So he created a glitch in the system.

I will not give you a full documentation of Ulbricht’s career; that is for you to research on your own time. But one thing must be acknowledged: he challenged the principle of conformity—something very few people are willing to do.

This is the idea we push.
